Yes, and it was a strange time. I would recommend music by Devo, Pat Benatar, Motley Crue, Poison, Van Halen and Guns and Roses (especially the song "paradise city").

Man, you are making me feel really old to remember this time in my life and I'm only 30. For music I guess try Def Leopard, Kiss, Guns and Roses, Motley Crue, and any other "hair band" of the 80's. Go to a store where they sell all different kinds of music, like Best Buy, check to see if they have a section just for 80's music. I know Best Buy has a music area that is all 80's and has all different kinds of music from that era.

Actually, it's Long-Hair. But there's some outstanding partying music you can use...like Pink Floyd, Rush, Styx, Boston, Supertramp, Journey, Asia, Duran Duran, Tears for Fears...and on and on. Not sure what era you want, but Pink Floyd for instance is ANY era in my opinion.

Ok, well 1st off, Kiss %26amp; Pantera were Not a part of that 80s big hair scene. Kiss' heyday were the 70s %26amp; Pantera were a serious non-MTV/no big hair metal band.

I think you should get a mohawk. Yeah, that's right. But a word of caution....if you use alot of hair spray, you may find that you need to wear looser fittin underwear or you will flatten it down.

Something along those lines. He has very crappy, fine hair from overdying, drug use and not eating well. But you probably don't, do you're going to need to straighten your hair fully.

Then poof it up with a blowdryer, some hair spray and a bit of gel on the underside of your hair, near your neck.

You've gotta get your bangs cut so they hang over your eyes, then get your hair curled or (permed?) and use lots of hairspray to give it the ridiculous amount of body that you want for that look.

If you want a serious answer... the truth is these hairstyles were acheived by using hair extensions and LOTS of them! In addition, in the 80's hair was always iron-set before combing it out and teasing it, etc. You will have to find a hairstylist friend to spend time with ... Ask your mother or girfriend to curl it for you. I know a guy who asked his mother to use curlers on his hair and it came out pretty good... he looked just like a rock star. You can either wet set it for longer lasting curls or use some electric rollers if you are in a hurry. I don't really like curling irons cause they tend to dry out your hair. Don't be afraid to try it out sometime... it's very cool!

I wouldn't consider Van Halen or GnR a hair metal band, like some of these others are doing. Eddie Van Halen was the best rock guitarist of the 80s though. But for hair bands, C.C. DeVille of Poison was the most talented. Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi a close second. Check out Richie's solo albums if you get a chance. They are great!

Wrapping hair?

I am have black, half white with VERY curly/frizzy hair. I straighten it with a flat iron and get it relaxed every 3 months. I wrap my hair at night too. The last time I went to a salon my hair stylist noticed some short hairs around my hairline. She told me to wrap it tighter around the hairline, so the hair could grow out and not continue to break. So I started to do that, but I have also put a cotton head band around my hairline to help. Recently I have noticed more hair around my hairline breaking off. is it because of the cotton head band?

Hey chick!I know how you feel ,I am half and half to.I also a licensed beautican so trust me I know! I don't see how wrapping your hair tighter around the hairline could be of any help to you.Be aware that not all cosmetolgist are actually into "healthy" hair...so they will tell you anything...just to sound like they know something.Without seeing your hair myself I would take a guess that it could be the relaxer.Like I said I have that kinda hair too..Its to bad to be good but to good to be bad...know whatimean? We want the kink out of hair and want it to be super straight...so we throw a relaxer in there.What I have started doing is just parting down the middle and applying to just the thickest most waviest parts..and of course since i love it super straight i smooth some on the font.But in your case I wouldn't put any more on the front directly..just take smaller sections and iron it.Be careful not to use to much heat either.Always put a heat protection on before you blow dry or iron.And yes I would not be putting no dry cotton headband anywhere near my head if I were you.You can get one of those silk wrap scarves from the beauty supply near you.You can also try a protein deep conditioner.I like cholesterol myself.Anyway I think it is a combination of the headband and chemicals and lack of moisture..Thisty hair and scalp is not good...dryness will cause breakage too.I don't really like grease because I know that the scalp is alive and I wouldn't dare smother it with purposeless petroleum, but we do need something...I prefer olive oil.I hope this helps...stop tying it so tight at night girl!

im pretty sure, since cotton is absorbent and probably drying out ur hairline, causing breakage.u shud try putting big pins in ur wrapped hair to keep it wrapped neatly w/o drying it. im not sure if u eva seen anyone do it, but is popular in urban salons in nyc.

im suggesting this because my hair is wrapped liked that everytime i go to the salon and you could always try this method.

you can also try somethin satin to help you wrap your with also, its a smooth fabric so it will cause less damage to hair

put a little miracle grow grease in it before you wrap it and then use a silk scarf to cover it that should stop the breakage.

1. Poison

In a close call over the Crue, Poison is my choice as the best hair metal band of all time. From "Talk Dirty To Me" to "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" to "Unskinny Bop" they have had huge radio and MTV hits and sold millions of albums. I like Bret Michaels as a singer a little better than Vince Neil and the two bands tie with the number of members that have been with Pamela Anderson.

2. Motley Crue

For pure debauchery nobody beats Motley Crue. They've lived to tell the tale and reunited for a world tour in 2005. Tommy Lee is a great drummer and Nikki Sixx an excellent bassist. They've also had a ton of commercial success and great songs like "Girls Girls Girls," "Shout At The Devil" and "Kickstart My Heart."

3. Ratt

Even though "Round and Round" was their only big radio hit, Ratt had a ton of great songs. Stephen Pearcy's distinctive rasp and the band's funky guitar work made them stand out. "I Want A Woman," "You're In Love" and "Lay It Down" are all really good songs. Ratt continues to tour today, but Jizzy Pearl is no Stephen Pearcy.

4. Warrant

Jani Lane is a mess today, but this was a group that had the knack for writing memorable ballads. "Heaven" and "Sometimes She Cries" climbed the pop charts, but I always liked "Down Boys." I hated the song "Cherry Pie," but the video helped a little. They're still around as well, but if you don't have the original lead singer it's really not Warrant.

5. Dokken

This was a band that imploded just as they were about to explode. George Lynch and Don Dokken couldn't get along and the band split up as they were on the verge of rocketing to the next level. Lynch is one of the best guitarists in metal, and Dokken can really croon. "In My Dreams" is a classic, and "It's Not Love" and "Alone Again" are also good.

6. Cinderella

Tom Kiefer's high pitched voice is very distinctive, and Cinderella's brand of pop metal had a little blues influence. "Gypsy Road," "Coming Home" and "Shake Me" were my favorite songs by the group. Cinderella are still touring, although it's been several years since they've released new material. But when you think about it, people don't really want to hear new songs by groups they grew up with. They just want to hear the big hits.

7. Winger

Kip Winger had the whitest teeth in music, and could really play the bass. Reb Beach was also a really good guitar player. As far as musicianship they were one of the most talented of the hair bands. "Seventeen," "Madelaine" and "Miles Away" are my top 3 Winger songs. And even though Stuart in Beavis and Butthead wore their tee shirt, they still made my top 10.

8. Slaughter

Mark Slaughter has a powerful voice that sometimes leaned toward sounding screechy. But his pipes were the real deal and having seen him sing at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally fairly recently can vouch that he hasn't lost a thing since the '80s, unlike some of his contemporaries. "Burning Bridges" is a great song, and I'd also throw in "Spend My Life" and "Fly To The Angels" as quality tracks.

9. L.A. Guns

I think they've had about 15 different lead singers over the years, although the Phil Lewis era is the one where they had the most success. Tracii Guns is a very good guitarist, and even though he isn't with the band now, he was back then. My favorite L.A. Guns song has always been "Ballad Of Jayne," followed by "Never Enough" and "It's Over Now."

10. White Lion

White Lion, led by Danish singer Mike Tramp, was one of the few hair bands that sang about things other than chicks and partying. They addressed some social and political issues in their songs. I've always like "Little Fighter," which was about a Greenpeace ship that was sunk by French commandos. "Tell Me" and "Wait" were also very good songs.

You put the pony tail through once. Then twist the rubberband in you finger to resemble figure eight and pull pony tail through. I have done this for years then I started twisting my band three twists then going back through with pony tail. I like that better. You can try either. I think the mulit twisting holds band better.

For me the 80's hair metal music will never ever die, i do not care what people say about this music, i do not care, i just love them so very much. I ever say this to my friend "do you tired and bored with your 80's hair metal music ?? and they say " hell no, that music is my life and breath". I ask about this almost all of my friends who love this music, and i got the same answer from them. The 80's hair metal music will never die. Maybe what you see right now is many major labels do the stupid things today, they never contract again the bands that ever have a huge sale items. The major label leave them. But right now the indie label take them in their hands tightly. Many indie label right now have contract with the big named band long time ago, like Mad Max, House of lord etc.

The 80's were known as the big hair bands. You can only get big hair with curly hair, not straight hair. Look back at old pictures and you will see, it was BIG HAIR DAYS!

same reason why dancers in the 60's wore Go-Go boots. It is all a sign of the times. Fads come and go. My kids are looking at the 80's like it so cool and retro. Life changes and we roll with it.

well cuz that was like the style in the 80's. to get your hair permed. i don't think guys look good with perms..or that big of hair. see at least now a day the guys may have long hair just like back then but atleast they leave it straight and un permed! see in my opinion guys look better today then guys did in the 80's. and just like how big hair was "cool" in the 80's well now straight hair is "cool" now. but honestly i like the straight hair better than the permed hair like in the 80's. but hey Axl Rose had straight hair in the 80's... and believe me he was the one of the better looking guys in a band in the 80's. i like Guns N' Roses.

No more than the term "c o c k rock" did in the 60s, and wow! that was true. It was also true of a lot of 80s bands, but in a more groomed and artificial way. Youth always attempts to rebel and shock. I think that "boy bands" is much more derogatory. In the end, all that matters is the music and how it makes one feel.

You are right, these can be very dangerous because they can become obstructed in the gastrointestinal tract. The best thing you can do is keep things picked up and don't let the dog out of your site. When you aren't able to watch him you need to keep him in his crate. There really isn't any other way to keep him from eating things that he isn't supposed to be eating. It may just be a phaze and he'll get over it or it may just be a lifetime fascination. Keep your eye on him, when you catch him with something he's not suposed to have you need to take it away and say no firmly. Good luck

Watch him like a hawk. If you aren't able to keep an eye on him, confine him to a crate or one room. Make sure he has something really good to chew on (food-stuffed Kong, rawhide bone, Nylabone).

Golden Retrievers were bred to carry things in their mouths, so they are prone to this. He won't outgrow it - he needs to be taught what he is allowed to chew on and what he isn't.

The hair metal scene had a ton of great songs...but it was getting cliched and repetitious. It needed to be put to rest somehow. Nirvana came in and their style of music dominated. They made it possible for other Seattle bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains to strike it big as well as some 90s alternative bands, especially The Smashing Pumpkins and The Offspring. Face it, the hair metal scene was getting repetitious with non-stop ballads. Metal wasn't totally destroyed...some bands like Metallica still found some success in the 90s.

And kiddies, rap sucked when MTV and commercial executives decided to just promote music that sells rather than music that was good lyrically and musically. That's why the crap rap is dominating right now.

They were great for what they did, but to me rock should be fun and the grunge movement was not fun (and faded out quicker than the hair band scene). I personally prefer the 80's and very early 90's to Nirvana.

There IS white, silver hair dye. What you got to do is bleach your hair first so that it's VERY light. Then apply the dye. Or better still, just go to your hairdresser, she'll do it properly. it can be very harmful for your hair to bleach it so much if you're inexperienced.

It's easy. Just get a curling iron and curl the bottom half of your hair and curl going all the way down until your done. Do not curl your hair very tightly because it'll look awkward if you have very straight or wavy hair and then it suddenly goes very curly. Curl it loosly and spray the curls with hairspray to make it stay. You can leave out the hairspray if you do not like hair products. And if you are using it, use the earth friendly kind please. Hairspray is bad for the ozone layer.....

The trick is that her hair has lots of volume. There are many volumizing products out there; just look for them. And get some Paul Mitchel Shine Gel; It will give your hair a nice shine (It wont look greasy). And yes, her name is Lauren Conrad, also known as, LC.

I've dyed my hair twice in the past, both darker colors. The first time I dyed it, it was a very dark, chocolate brown, whilest my hair was a dirty blondish, light brown. This color soon lightened up into a shade of medium brown, one which I was very happy with. I then dyed my hair again (the first time a friend who dyes her hair a lot did it; the second, my friend's mom who's a hairdresser did.) this time closer to the chocolate brown.

But now I want to dye my hair a little bit lighter, like 'Miku' in the Japanese band 'Antic Cafe'. Can I do this? I have a picture for description. The first is my hair, the second (picture on the left) is a little too blonde for my desired hair color, but imagine it a tad browner, and the third is a color that I would be willing to work with if the light brown doesn't work.

I'm 26 and only fine tunned the straightening method three years ago... a great conditioner is key... then blow dry your hair and then take a straightner to it... (i also use a flat iron spray) Got my straightener at sally beauty supply.... pull some of your hair up... straighten a section and then repeat.... good luck

It depends on how thick your hair is. If you have really thick hair you may want to ask for it to be thinned out / razored when you go into the salon. Also, when taking a shower condition your hair twice - I use Dove Intense conditioner. Then when you get out use the leave in conditioner and when it dries put finishing cream in - and straighten.

I spent years figuring this out :-)

I can help you!!!! this may seem weird but i do it ALL THE TIME! lay down on your back and have a friend or someone iron your hair with an iron....make sure the iron isnt on high and it will come out great brush your hair then run an iron through it...dont worry it wont burn if the iron is on low heat. ive been doing it for years and my hair comes out amazing! not only does your hair look super straight but it come out SO shiny

One, it is black, which absorbs heat.

Two, it's thick, so it retains that heat and air can't circulate. Instead of cutting it, like others have said, I agree that thinning it would help. Maybe do a braid that can be pinned up on the back of your head, or under a cap.

Also, there are neck coolers...a gel inside of a bandana (you could make your own. Just go to a florist and get some of their "water" gel and put it in a bandana and fold it up) When you wet it, then put it in the fridge, it stays cool. Or try just a wet bandana around your neck. The water evaporates, thereby cooling you.

I straighten my hair after every shower with a flat-iron, solely because I hate my curly hair thats very thick. But I am in a band that plays shows which causes me to sweat and my hair to lose its straight. I was wondering how I can keep it from doing this in humidity and everywhere else.

I am open to chemically straightening it too, my hair is very strong and could handle it. But I was curious how the results are, when I get out of the shower and let it air dry will it be straight? Does it behave in the same way as flat-ironed hair does?

if you want to save yourself a lot of work, get it chemically straightened. its results are similar to just flat ironing it... and you don't have to spend forever on it. depending on how fast your hair grows, get the growth redone 2-6 times a year.
