I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

I have some farmer friends who are country fans who can't believe that. I understand that they don't have a clue either. I am just wondering if anyone agrees with me. Thanks!

The hair metal scene had a ton of great songs...but it was getting cliched and repetitious. It needed to be put to rest somehow. Nirvana came in and their style of music dominated. They made it possible for other Seattle bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains to strike it big as well as some 90s alternative bands, especially The Smashing Pumpkins and The Offspring. Face it, the hair metal scene was getting repetitious with non-stop ballads. Metal wasn't totally destroyed...some bands like Metallica still found some success in the 90s.

And kiddies, rap sucked when MTV and commercial executives decided to just promote music that sells rather than music that was good lyrically and musically. That's why the crap rap is dominating right now.

They did bring about a whole new genre to the mainstream, but wasn't punk (The Ramones, the Clash...) already saving rock and roll from hair metal?

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

I always preferred Iron Maiden and Slayer for my metal, but I do have a soft spot for 80s hair bands - like LA Guns, Skid Row and Motley Crue

Nirvana saved my life.

Rock-N-roll music was getting all poppy and crap!

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

well it dependes on how you look at it "crappy 80s hair band" or "shitty no talant depressed heroin addicted lummber jack shirt wearing grunge" if you even classified grunge as music so i would say "SAVED" is a strong word. but thats just my opinion

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

One.

Alot of the bands in 80's were decent.

PANTERA SAVED ROCK FROM THE "HAIR BANDS"

Nirvana almost put out metal with grunge and Pantera saved it.

Pantera saved Metal from Nirvana....

So you're saying this new Pop,RNB and Rap Bullsh!t is better than the 80's glam? Yikes!

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

I agree They changed all mainstream rock. They brought talent back to rock.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

I LIKE hair metal.

So, i don't think they saved rock n roll.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

No, I think that Nirvana took good, fun, and energetic rock and roll and turned it into depressing bullsh*t.

80's rock was all about having fun, hanging out with your friends, going drinking and partying, and getting laid. Nirvana sang about death and depression.

Yeah, that's a real improvement.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

They just changed what was mainstream. After Nirvana, the grunge sound was what was "in".

Absolutly, the music scene needed something like Nirvana to give the world a whole new sense of feeling. Not just a song about dragons or corny war rants. But something that taught you something, and Kurt did a good job at that.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

No! They ruined rock! The 80's were the last decade for good rock, imo. Grunge is one of the worst kind of music. I like hair bands! I don't even get why people like Nirvana, they weren't even good.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

Rock was dying much as it is today. We need something NOW.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

no, kurt cobain ****** up rock n' roll.....he led to today's crappy music like my chemical romance, coldplay and whatnot

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

Hey maybe people actually like those crappy 80s bands if you can believe that.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

They were great for what they did, but to me rock should be fun and the grunge movement was not fun (and faded out quicker than the hair band scene). I personally prefer the 80's and very early 90's to Nirvana.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

Nivana gave us some good music, as did the bands of the 80's at the time. The music of the generations keeps changing. It's sort of funny how many modern groups sample the music from the past and create hits.

Your love for grunge is no more powerful than my love for the music I grew up with.

A little respect please.

I believe Nirvana saved Rock and Roll from crappy 80's hair bands, do you agree?

No! Nirvana,Didn't save Rock and Roll..We the people saved Rock %26amp; Roll. Kurt's idols came from the 60s,70s and 80s.Yes, Hair band! I prefer Iron Maiden,Slayer,Ozzy, Megadeth and Korn!

Ratt, Dokken, Y%26amp;T %26amp; Night Ranger all kicked out some great songs. So,I disagree with you.

TY, D3K.......
