Why does my hair (scalp) hurt when it's been tied up for a while?

When I have had my hair in bunches or when my bangs have been squished under a hairband, my hair/scalp hurts when i take the band out. Why is that?

The answer I have been told was: When you tie up your hair the folicles are all brushed one way in particular and they have stayed in that way for a period of time. Letting your hair down Is causing these folicles to change direction and this can be quite painful as it's changing the tightness, place and weight as well.

same thing happens to me. i know that mine is two reasons, i have a sensitivbe scalp and once my hair is used ot being up in something tight like a bun, it really hurts when i take it out cuz my hair is used to it.

You tied it to tight apparently. Also putting hair into a tight ponytail causes beakage especially when hair is wet.
