Does thick, black hair make you sweat more?

Even when I put it in a ponytail, I seem to sweat more than everyone else in marching band. Especially at my neck.... Will thinning my hair help?

Does thick, black hair make you sweat more?

Yes.

One, it is black, which absorbs heat.

Two, it's thick, so it retains that heat and air can't circulate. Instead of cutting it, like others have said, I agree that thinning it would help. Maybe do a braid that can be pinned up on the back of your head, or under a cap.

Also, there are neck coolers...a gel inside of a bandana (you could make your own. Just go to a florist and get some of their "water" gel and put it in a bandana and fold it up) When you wet it, then put it in the fridge, it stays cool. Or try just a wet bandana around your neck. The water evaporates, thereby cooling you.

Good luck.

yes because the sun absorbs more heat from dark colors, and if it's thick it'll absorb more.. that's why u sweat more.

Hey Lily,

Just as the other person answered, yes - because your hair is both black and thick you will sweat more. Would you be allowed to wear a light colored cap or scarf on your head during practice? Perhaps visit your beautician for any acvice. Good luck. I will call my brother in law for advice for your bunions. Take care!

if ur hair are thick..... be proud of em , healthy! and personally i dont think thell make that much of a difference.. they mite make you feel just a bit more hot/

Does thick, black hair make you sweat more?

yes! i just got my hair cut and 'thinned', it's cool and light.

Thick, black hair does make you sweat more. Haven't they taught you in school that dark black and rough surfaces absorb more heat radiation from the sun. Thick hair heats up your body even more. Thinning will work but highlighting it may be a better option. You should wear a white cap if you can.
