I have hair that is a little bit below my shoulder. It is very dark brown, almost black. It's curly and really frizzy. It's all over the place. Usually I wear it in a pony tail becuase it's looks even worse when it's down and gets in the way. When it's in pony tail some of the hairs that I put in the rubber band are really short so they jump out. It looks really bad in a pony tail, too. What can I do to make it not be as frizzy and stay in my rubber band? Also, are there any hairstyles you think would work to make it look better? I'm pretty sick of putting it in a pony tail. I've been putting it in a pony tail for years. I would prefer not having to buy anything or barely anything to get it how I want it to be. But also tell me ways I can make it look good if I do buy things.

Get a product called Scruncher if you have a sally beauty supply around there. It's awesome for taking out frizz and making your hair style a whole lot easier. Also...get those new ribbed pony tail holders. They hold your hair in for a lot longer. And gel... it helps hold those little hairs back.

You should wash it almost every other day. Use products by Garnier, Fructise (sp?). Also, there's this battery-opperated brush by the Sharper Image. It's called the ionic brush. It has ionizers. I'm not completely sure how it works, but it's not like, dangerous and it totally works. Oh, and use tons of gel.

Hey,dont use a rubber band it pulls out your hair use "goody" hair elastics, what you could do is buy a hair straightener buy an "andis" at walmart for 20$ its in an ornage package or buy a "CHI" its 100$ but its good. Also use shampoos like "sunsilk de-frizz" or herbal essences "none of your frizzness" or other stuff herbal essences isnt that good for your hair though, but if it takes away the frizz than use it with 24/7 cream. O and if you use a strightener use a heat protection cream.

First of all try a different shampoo, i recommend pantene pro-v for smoother hair. it should help tone the frizz down a bit, and it will help to nourish your hair also if your hair is curly it might look pretty tucked back with two pins on either side of your head just above the ear.
If you really wanna try something different you could use straightner and see how it looks straight.
I recommend borrowing one from a friend before actually going out to make the purchase that way you'll know if you like it that way before you make a commitment.
Best of Luck!

There's alot of things you can do. If you went to a salon, you could get it relaxed. It can be damaging but I've heard that they are miracle workers. If you bought a product, I would recommend frizz ease. There are also a couple of home remedies you could try since you said you didn't want to spend any money. Here's one that Rachel Bilson uses to keep her hair smooth and sleek:
1. Boil 2 cups of water with the peel of 1 orange, finely chopped. Remove from hear and cool for 30 minutes.
2. Blend the liquid in a blender on low for 1 minute until it forms a sauce. Then add 1 tsp. olive oil and 1 tbsp. apple-cider vinegar.
3. Add 1/2 ripe avocado, peeled and mashed. Blend for 2 minutes until totally smooth. Apply to damp hair. Leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse, shampoo and condition.
If all else fails, I definately would recommend that you leave it up to a professional and get it relaxed. Hope this helps!

I like to use the Brilliant Blonde shampoo and conditioner by John Freida (found at Target - $4.99 each) But in your case, I'd recommend the Brilliant Brunette!! Works like a charm for frizziness.. My hair is AWFUL!! Also, I bought a Con-Air hair straightener with ceramic plates.. Typically, I wash, shampoo, blow dry and straighten.. That straightener is AMAZING!! Lately I have been using my curling iron to straighten my hair though.. It leaves it with a little body.. You really should take some time and go to a nice hair salon.. They will give you advice on what you can do with your hair.. Good luck!!

you can try straghting it and if your hair is that curly u should get a shorter har cut so the curls come out nicer, it also depends how you style your hair do u just brush it?? cuzz u can try spraying it with water then brush then scrunch it and if u dont want those short peices to poke out you should use a bit of jell or bobby pins to hold it back, thats what i do

I had the SAME EXACT PROBLEM. What I do is to only brush it when it is wet, scrunch it up in my hand a little to loosen it from brushing, then let it dry naturally. If I brush it when it is dry, I basically have a huge frizzy poodle on my head because all the curls get pulled apart. Some people might say not to brush it when wet, but curly people have to break the rules sometimes. I also got my hair cut with layers so that I wouldn't have what I call "triangle head." When my hair was all one length it would be flat on top, but puffy on the bottom...it looked like a triangle. Some of the cheaper products like VO5 anti-frizz lotions work well to tame fly-away hairs if you apply it while your hair is still wet. I also spritz my hair with just a little hairspray when it is almost dry to keep it from getting frizzier. As for the short hairs that stick out, if you stop pulling it into a ponytail, which can cause hairs to break, they might grow out a little more and not stick up so much. If you use a blowdryer, I recommend a diffuser attachment because it won't blow your hair all over the place while drying. I hope this helps.

Straightening it helps. Then you can put in in two ponytails but use hair scrunchies or ties dont use rubber bands it pulls your hair out.
