My cat likes hair ties?

My Himalayan cat likes hair ties actually anything thats a circle i.e. rubber bands, etc. also Barbie doll clothes he carries them around the house and eventually they end up in his water dish.Is this a common trait? Or is my cat just plain weird?

It's normal, one of mine gets in the trash and gets the milk rings out.... I found toys at the pet store that are similar to the rings off galon jugs of milk, so I am assuming that this is a common thing.

Moreover, she is a hunter of socks. She carries them around as if they are hunted prey and leave them near the cat-food dish.

And bear slippers... you know, the ones that have animal shapes in front? I'm not sure if she sees them as prey or as toy-kittens, for she carries them by biting the neck of the bear.

I am beginning to suspect that cats play with toys much like kids play with them.

One of my cats has a habbit of chewing/eating anything rubbery. When we first got him, we didn't know this until he started getting sick and throwing up bits of rubber bands. We had to take him to the vet to get some fluids and a laxative-type thing! (Thank goodness he didn't have to have surgery). Anyway, now we have to keep anything rubbery away (shoes, hair ties, rubber bands, etc) from him, because he'll eat it up if it's there. LOL!

I think it's common, I'd watch out for those rubber bands though. Same as Alex... one of my cats likes to get a hold of rubber bands and eat them, only to throw it up later...gross.

Completely normal!! My vet told me of a story of a Siamese cat who played with a bag of colored rubber bands. Her owner claimed her cat was having digestive issues, many tests later they cut her open to find that she was eating only the black ones. So strange!!! Cats are so silly!!

He's weird, but so is mine. I have a maine coon that everything he "loves" goes in his water bowl and a little girl that loves the plastic rings from a gallon of milk. She thinks those are better than any toy I can buy.

Cats love all kinds of silly things. My male cat like things that we would normally throw away (lids to bottles, the thing that is around a milk jug, boxes, string, etc)

In regards to the comment about the milk ring - that is crazy. I thought my cat was the only one that did that. Ceasar will find a milk ring ANYWHERE if there is one to be found. He growls at my other cat if he comes near and acts like he birthed the milk ring and they both drop everything in their food bowl.

With the hair ties, mine play with them every so often. They are not huge fans though. However, they do like ice cubes. If you put one in the bathtub they will bat at it until it melts.

One more thing, I concur that you should watch out for them eating the hairties. I have a flame point siamese that used to eat rope - from my Hoodies and clothes. He got really sick because he screwed up his digestional track. I didn't know he was eating all of this until one day I got home and this long rope was hanging out of his hind end. He STILL tries to eat it and I have to tuck all of the strings in on my clothes and hide them.

Lots of cats get interested in some particular item %26amp; spend a lot of time finding them %26amp; moving them around. Just please be careful with the hair ties, because if he should eat one, it could be extremely serious..try to get him into headbands or something bigger that he is less likely to accidentally or purposely eat..

This is a common trait. Cats like to play with anything. You should get them some cat toys to play with just to make sure they are safe. You dont want them playing with tiny things or anything they can choke on.
