I have thick brown hair and have side bangs. Mine are a little past my nose so I can occasionally tuck them behind my ears. But with them swooped to the side you can leave them longer because obviously they are on the side and not right on your forehead. I love them and have had them for quite a few years now. If you get them too short they wont stay to the side though and will be in your eyes.

cut your sidebangs long and use a bobby pin when yur mom is around and remove it when she's out of eyeshot.

get them cut longer and pull them back with a clip and then when you get to school or whereever you are going take it out. Or get them cut sort and don't part it to the side cause that looks kinda funny. I hope you get your way
