That's right you heard me! In China, there is report stating that "used condoms" are now being recycled to be used as get this, "hair bands!"
Yahoo! News has reported that "rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in numerous cities." Its said that if you have a cut opening somewhere on your head, or if you hold them close for your mouth to get into contact with them, there is a chance of of you getting herpes, AIDS, or any other STDs that the condoms have been into contact with. It is basically is illegal to recycle condoms but you know how underground marketers get around the law!
What great timimg for this to come for the 2008 Olympics! Don't you think this is good publicity? Now people may start watching the Olympics more for a record of how many gets infected! What do you of this?
What do you think of used condoms now being used for hair bands?
The HIV virus doesn't really survive outside the body, if that were the case, every single person on the planet would be infected by now...
This is what I think:
After undergoing the recycling process (which I assume involves melting the rubber), the virus will be destroyed from the extremely high temperatures.
Other viral and bacterial STD infections would also die or be destroyed from the extreme temperatures.
You do realise of course that we recycle objects that people interact with all the time, pieces of metal for example could easily have a person's blood on them...
I am more worried about the people that are handling the condoms PRIOR to the recycling process...
Also, how do they get people to put used condoms in one recycling bin? Thats amazing, most people would DEFINETELY not recycle a used condom (imagine carrying a filled plastic bag of discarded condoms accross the street)...
What do you think of used condoms now being used for hair bands?
Doesn't surprise me, like you said its in China.
What do you think of used condoms now being used for hair bands?
Wow, I wanna do the underground market clean the condom when they make it into rubber band. I know condom is not the 100% effencience against std! I have many std friends on http://herpesmates.com, they help me out of the std situation!
What do you think of used condoms now being used for hair bands?
That's ridiculous! You cannot make a hair band out of condoms. I know bands like twisted sister seem plastic, but they are not! They are actual people, and if their parents used condoms while making them, they probably wouldn't exist.
